Why I Started Over in Vancouver

Why I Started Over in Vancouver

Fourteen years ago, I immigrated to Vancouver in search of a better life.

Like many newcomers, I dreamed of one day owning a home.

As the years passed, I came to accept that buying a home in Vancouver was no longer a realistic goal for me.

Then my perspective changed.

I realized that paying less rent is another way of building wealth.

Every dollar I don’t spend on housing is a dollar I can save, invest, or use to build a better future.

That simple idea changed the way I look at money—and at life.

I have also learned how deeply a home can affect the way I feel. A home is much more than four walls and a roof. It can influence my mood, my energy, and my overall quality of life.

Because of that, I’m no longer searching for the biggest apartment or the most luxurious one.

Instead, I’m looking for something much simpler—a home that is clean, bright, and peaceful, with large windows that let in plenty of natural light. A place where my cat and I can feel safe, comfortable, and truly at home.

I believe that finding the right home isn’t just about improving where I live. It’s about improving how I live.

Finding a clean, comfortable, and affordable place where my cat and I can enjoy a peaceful life while I build my next chapter.

This blog is the story of that journey.

Here, I’ll share everything I learn about affordable housing in Vancouver, including BMU, LEM, BC Housing, and new rental opportunities.

If my experiences can help someone else save money, find a home, or have the courage to start over, then this blog will have served its purpose.

Welcome to my new beginning.
